At noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, W. Ralph Eubanks, author of When It’s Darkness on the Delta: How America’s Richest Soil Became Its Poorest Land, will examine the history and economy of the Mississippi Delta as part of the History Is Lunch series. Eubanks, faculty fellow and writer in residence at the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi, will draw on his research and travels throughout the region to explore the forces that have shaped the Delta and highlight efforts to address economic inequality. This free event will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums
